Young International Orchestra (YIO) 2025
Young International Orchestra (YIO) on rahvusvaheline noorte õppivate muusikute sümfooniaorkester, mille koosseisu kuulub ligi 80 muusikut Saksamaalt, Lätist, Austriast ja Eestist. See on võimalus 12–19-aastastele kogeda professionaalse sümfooniaorkestri tööd, arendada oma muusikalisi oskusi ning luua püsivaid rahvusvahelisi sõprussuhteid.
Orkester sündis 2018. aastal, kui Rostocki Noorteakadeemia (YARO, Saksamaa) ja Riia Emīls Dārziņši Muusikakool (Läti) otsustasid ühendada jõud.
2019. aastal liitusid orkestriga mõned noored Peterburist ning 2021. aastal keelpillimängijad Johann Joseph Fux Konservatooriumist (Austria).
2022. aastal võõrustas projekti Emīls Dārziņši Muusikakool (Läti). Laval mängisid võrdselt Saksamaa, Läti ja Austria noored muusikud ning just siis sündis orkestri nimi Young International Orchestra ehk YIO.
2023. aastal kuulusid orkestrisse juba Rostocki Noorteakadeemia (Saksamaa), Emīls Dārziņši Muusikakool (Läti) ja Johann Joseph Fux Konservatoorium (Austria). Esmakordselt liitus Tallinna Muusika- ja Balletikool MUBA (Eesti) ning osalesid ka Veszprémi Csermák Antal Muusikakooli (Ungari) õpilased. Ungari oli ka 2023. aasta projekti võõrustaja.
Aastate jooksul on orkestrit juhatanud mitmed väljapaistvad dirigendid ja muusikud, andes noortele julgust, professionaalset kindlust ja inspiratsiooni nende muusikalisel teekonnal.
Tagasivaade lähiaastatele
2023 – Ungari
Kontserdid toimusid Hangvilla Veszprémis ja Eiffel Műhelyház Budapestis, samuti Leopold Auer Festivalil, mis oli osa Euroopa kultuuripealinna Veszprém 2023 programmist.
Dirigendiks oli Thomas Platzgummer (Johann Joseph Fux Konservatooriumi sümfooniaorkestri dirigent ja tunnustatud tšellist).

YIO kontserdid on toimunud mainekates saalides nagu Hangvilla Veszprémis ja Eiffel Műhelyház Budapestis ning rahvusvahelistel festivalidel, sh Leopold Auer Festival (Veszprém 2023).
Alates 2023. aastast toetab projekti Euroopa Liidu Erasmus+ programm, võimaldades noortele muusikutele veelgi rohkem rahvusvahelisi kogemusi ja arenguvõimalusi.
2024 – Saksamaa
Kontserdid toimusid Saksamaal Rostocki Muusika- ja Teatrikõrgkooli Katharinensaali saalis ning Neubrandenburgi kontsertkirikus. Laval olid Emīls Dārziņši Muusikakool (Läti), Johann Joseph Fux Konservatoorium ja Grazi Kunstiülikool (Austria), Tallinna Muusika- ja Balletikool MUBA (Eesti) ja Rostocki Noorteakadeemia (Saksamaa).
Dirigendiks oli Daniel Geiß (Neubrandenburgi Filharmoonia ja Neustrelitzi Riigiteatri peadirigent).

2025 – Eesti
YIO projekt toimub 17.–24. augustil 2025 Eestis, Tallinna Muusika- ja Balletikoolis MUBA (Eesti) – üks kaasaegsemaid muusika- ja balletikoole Euroopas.
Sel aastal juhendab ja töötab noortega dirigent Mihhail Gerts.
Gerts on hoogsalt tõusnud Euroopa klassikalise muusika tippdirigentide sekka. Ta on dirigeerinud mainekaid orkestreid, sealhulgas BBC Sümfooniaorkester, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France ja loomulikult juhatanud mainekaid Eesti muusikakollektiive nagu ka Eesti Riiklik Sümfooniaorkester (ERSO).
Gerts on tuntud oma tundliku muusikalise tunnetuse ja karismaatilise lavalise kohaloleku poolest.

Young International Orchestra (YIO)
Young International Orchestra (YIO) is an international symphony orchestra of young music students, comprising nearly 80 musicians from Germany, Latvia, Austria, and Estonia. It offers 12–19-year-old musicians the opportunity to experience working in a professional symphony orchestra, develop their musical skills, and build lasting international friendships.
The orchestra was founded in 2018, when the Rostock Young Academy (YARO, Germany) and the Emīls Dārziņš Music School in Riga (Latvia) joined forces.
In 2019, several young musicians from St. Petersburg (Russia) joined, and in 2021, string players from the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory (Austria) became part of the ensemble.
In 2022, the project was hosted by the Emīls Dārziņš Music School (Latvia). Musicians from Germany, Latvia, and Austria performed together, and this was the year the orchestra adopted the name Young International Orchestra (YIO).
By 2023, the orchestra included the Rostock Young Academy (Germany), Emīls Dārziņš Music School (Latvia), and the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory (Austria). For the first time, the Tallinn School of Music and Ballet MUBA (Estonia) joined, alongside students from the Csermák Antal Music School in Veszprém (Hungary). Hungary also hosted the 2023 project.
Over the years, the orchestra has been conducted by many distinguished conductors and musicians, offering young players encouragement, professional confidence, and inspiration in their musical journeys.

2023 – Hungary
Concerts took place at Hangvilla in Veszprém and Eiffel Műhelyház in Budapest, as well as at the Leopold Auer Festival, part of the European Capital of Culture Veszprém 2023 programme.
Conductor: Thomas Platzgummer (Chief Conductor of the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and acclaimed cellist).

Since 2023, the project has been supported by the EU Erasmus+ programme, enabling young musicians to gain even more international experience and growth opportunities.
2024 – Germany
Concerts were held at the Katharinensaal of the Rostock University of Music and Theatre and in the Neubrandenburg Concert Church. The orchestra featured musicians from the Emīls Dārziņš Music School (Latvia), Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory and University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria), Tallinn School of Music and Ballet MUBA (Estonia), and the Rostock Young Academy (Germany).
Conductor: Daniel Geiß (Chief Conductor of the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic and Neustrelitz State Theatre).

2025 – Estonia
The YIO project will take place 17–24 August 2025 in Estonia at the Tallinn College of Music and Ballet MUBA (Estonia) – one of the most modern music and ballet schools in Europe.
This year’s conductor is Mihhail Gerts, one of the most rapidly rising European conductors, who has led renowned orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, as well as the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ERSO).
Gerts is known for his sensitive musical interpretation and charismatic stage presence.

The 2025 programme is closely linked to the musical identity of Estonia and the Nordic countries, reflecting both the Nordic soundscape and the lyrical depth of Estonian music. The week will culminate in a grand gala concert on 23 August 2025 in MUBA’s Great Hall.
